So in the end.. (possible spoiler)

So in the end he didn't date her because her ex boyfriend promised to kick his ass again? Seeing as her job was depressing to her why didn't he just ask her to come to new york?

From when they shared their first kiss in the movie there really was no reason for them not to start dating right there. Instead we see him complaining to his friends about his feelings for her over and over. He already kissed her, what was the problem??

Anyway.. I thought the movie was ok but doesn't make sense in some places.

Exactly my thoughts. The movie builds up all these expectations, and then just flops. Was that all he was after, a single *beep* from his teen heartthrob? They're both lonely, disappointed with their lives, and clearly attracted to each other, why the hell would they not stay together at least for a while? They're both 38, not like they're getting any younger, and very soon she won't even be able to have children! Pointlessly self-destructive behaviour which goes against the very theme of the movie, that of growing up and, as an adult, resolving the issues which were troubling you since high school. Apparently, they're still mired in their cowardly high-school mentality.

The movie was very disappointing in this sense. If we watch it seriously (which we are apparently invited to, considering the high level of brain-dead moralizing in this movie), how are we supposed to react to the actions of the hero, if all he manages to do when "confronted" with his high school past and given a "second chance", is get beaten up by a former school bully, get his dad's prized car thrashed, get involved in a scandalous non-affair with a highschooler, and leave without the girl of his dreams, even though she was basically all over him?

Bah, that's the kind of crap Ryder's cursed with these days... so sad to see her talent go to waste. Just look at her few brief moments in Black Swan, now that's what Ryder's agents should have been looking for, instead of worthless sludge like this poor excuse for a movie.

"Henry? Stay cool." While he then prattles on from his book or whatever? What the f_ck? Thought he was supposed to be in love with her? And he just.. leaves? Why didn't she go with him? Like already stated they were both unhappy and clearly into each other, what the hell? Neither one of them could get their sh_t together enough to ask the other to stay/be with them? Pfft. Stoopid.

However, rest of the movie was okay. Some of the side characters were great. The main reason I watched this was for Sean Astin and Josh Holloway.

I'm not weird. I'm limited edition.

apparently, you all missed the point of the movie. it wasn't about them ending up together. It was about him getting closure. Just because a movie doesn't have a fairytale ending doesn't mean it's "stupid". as for the acting it wasn't as bad as some of your exaggerations. Also, the movie wasn't that bad. Again, the problem is some of you missed the whole point of the movie.

Precisely! It was about the closure for him. For her I think you could even say it was a sense of a new beginning for her and leaving behind the jerk of the past. I think too many viewers expected this to be a romantic comedy. You aren't going to get something from the Polish brothers with a clear cut ending; all their movies that I have seen allow for viewer interpretation.

so the closure is bangng the girl to fulfill your imaginary relationship that you write in the book??? dohhhh.... stid movie!
