If someone else had played Ted, this show would have made it

This show is a lot funnier than ABC's Modern Family. Modern Family has a few big names on the cast. If ABC got a well known name to play Ted, this show would still be going.

I think both shows are funny, just in different ways.

Modern Family has "a few big names in the cast"?? Aside from Ed O'Neill (whom I wouldn't call "big" but is certainly the best-known name here) there's Julie Bowen, whom I know primarly from the show Ed and a few episodes of Lost. I see she's done other things that people might know her from, but I wouldn't call her a "big name" either.

Someone other than Jay Harrington as Ted??? He was perfect! The problem wasn't with the casting. It's with us stupid Americans not watching an intelligent, clever show!

Edit: There are some well-known names on Modern Family in reoccuring roles - Nathan Lane, Fred Willard, Chaz Palminteri, Elizabeth Banks, Benjamin Bratt, Shelly Long, David Cross, Phillip Baker Hall, Rob Riggle, the late Elizabeth Pena, Steve Zahn, Jennifer Tilly, Ernie Hudson, Kevin Hart, and Linda herself from Better Off Ted, Andrea Anders (okay, she's not really "well known," but I wanted to include her as a tie-in to this being the BoT board) - but not really any "big names" in the regular cast.

All I'm saying is that if Ted was played by someone with a more familiar face, the show was easily strong enough to last. Unfortunately Ted was played by a guy no one knows on a show no one knows.

What about Scrubs? Nobody on there was a big name before it started.
