Bugs -- Spoilers Included

Let me first say I am just like the character that has a phobia with bugs, so this movie is aces in the creepy bugs category. I live in an area where roaches/waterbugs are very large (not my normal little roaches, 2 to 3 inches!!!. And heck, now there are raccoons running around at night in a cosmopolitan city. What the---??? Bottom line, no one, anywhere is immune.

Know that there are humane ways to treat them. (Confession - I beat the bug that scared me 1/2 to death last week with my designer shoe. Sorry animal activists!)Our place has those silent bug killers plugged into every wall, the owners do maintenance, but there is A LOT of digging, laying down "new" pipes in the streets and subway tunnels coming through and it's a mess. One bug in two years felt like seeing all these bugs...did I say the bugs here are BIG!?!?

Anyhoo with this picture, there are reminiscent shots and story familiar to "John Carpenter's The Thing" (which is a movie I love dearly, a masterpiece) but this movie has it's own little twists here and there. But "The Thing" is pretty much the script they used as a primmer to make this happen and they don't try to hide it. Maybe a tad of the idea of James Cameron's "Aliens" too here and there.

Sure there is a hokey Global Warming message, but if you are still so-so on that issue, the bug issue is enough to worry about with all the things going on around us locally. It should be score a bit higher...
