I think the British in general are just bad with endings. They can tell a fair story, but can't figure out how to bring it to a satisfying close.
Think of the end of the UK "Queer as Folk", ending. The character Nathan (Charlie Hunnam) goes on to becomes 'king of the world' or something hokey like that. More likely he goes on to become a street hustler.
The same with the second season of SKINS, the last season for the first cast. Yes, it ended, and it was symbolic, but it was weak.
I think this was just typical of British 'anything'. They don't seem to do endings well.
Still, I liked the movie.
