Shows how utterly corrupt the prison system is...

The prison system isn't as bad as in America, but clearly still is corrupt throughout. From prison wardens, to prison staff, to the politicians of the country, it's sick.

You do know this is not a documentary, but a fictional film? I like it, but in accepting the storyline, you are expected to believe as is typical in most prison movies, that the system is 100% corrupt. I'd say if you believe that, you also probably believe there are fairies living at the bottom of your garden.🐭

Agreed. It is in the nature of the prison system and human condition under the some of the harshest circumstances. Add to that a prison staff that understandably doesn't want to work there to begin with and a population necessarily composed of the bottom dwellers of any given society and it becomes clear that any attempt at having a humane and uncorrupted prison system is doomed from the get-go, any time, anywhere.

That said, there seems to be a correlation between the severity of the punishment for a crime in a society, the inhumanity of its prisons and the violence within said society, which means that the harsher and more mercilessly a civilization wants to deal with its criminals, the more barbarous the crimes will be, which in turn will tend to make prisons just as barbarous.

Sounds counterintuitive, but if 5'000 years of written history have taught us anything, it's that: torture and death penalty don't prevent criminality, au contraire.

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs
