Quick question as I was watching Dorian Basil's character makes a reference to something Happening to Celia Radley, I was curious what happened?
Sorry if it was explained off in the film I am watching it off of Netflix and the audio is really low on my laptop. Thanks for the info!
Celia Radley was the young woman who had sex with Dorian during her coming-out ball. Dorian has sex with her mother shortly after; when Lady Radley leaves, the film shows she was hiding under the bed the whole time.
The film implies word of this got round somehow, although it doesn't get specific. Now I think about it, I believe you see Celia Radley at the party when Dorian returns from his travels, but if word got round she, er, tumbled with a young man like that, wouldn't she be shunned...?
Sorry I knew which one she was, I just wasn't sure of the specifics... I would assume yes she would get into a pickle after that but I was more confused as to why they singled her out and not her mother... I thought maybe she ended up in an asylum or like in the book when Dorian found Adrian Singleton in the opium den she found herself in a whore-house or something like that... I guess maybe I thought it might be a reference to Adrian without having to delve into that part of the book or whatever. So I wasn't clear on whether that was just a verbal reminder of Dorian's depravity or if there was a visual reference to the degradation he seemed to spread about London.

She wasn't at the party, but she was in a scene right after. It was the scene right before he visits Sybil's grave. Cecilia recognizes him in a whorehouse. He gets startled by her and pushes her away.

Well,just there,Dorian,meanwhile,is dancing with a woman wearing a black dress,thin,and with long brown hair.That woman is the one you see in that dirty place.So no Celia.
About what happened to her,that is not said in the movie,so you can figure out lots of things.Maybe she got pregnant,or people found out she had slept with Dorian and consecuently nobody wanted to marry her,and that was a bad thing for a woman in that time..Or maybe she was crazy for him and she did stupid things,who knows..But there is a scene where you see Dorian,a woman and Celia doing a threesome,so I assume Celia was corrupted by Dorian too,maybe she was not a good girl anymore and of the same way the society knew Dorian was a playboy and a bad man,they would know Celia was not a sweet girl anymore,and in that time a woman who was not a virgin and had done lots of things related to sex,was rejected by everybody.
Just my opinion,because in the movie they didn't say a word about Celia's future.

I wrote a fanfiction about really happened to Celia. She contracted Syphilis from Dorian, who was infected but not affected by the syphilis bacteria due to the curse he is under. She is also impregnated by him but loses the baby early in the pregnancy. She is so distraught over everything that she begins to go crazy and is put into an asylum by her parents. Her mother remains healthy and never admits to sleeping with Dorian as well. After her stay in the asylum, Celia is shunned by her family and lives in the streets, supporting herself with prostitution. Shortly after her chance meeting with Dorian years later, as shown in the film, she is beaten to death by a man and the police find her broken body in a alley.
I was bored one night... lol
