Just watched the first episode

I really like Roth, but didn't like the pilot episode of this series. Too much overemphasized use of body language signs and too many dopey explanations of what they mean.

I understand that's the premise of the show, but these cues were so dumbed down they distract from the story and the acting.

Hoping that the overemphasis is just for the pilot, and that this is toned down moving forward. I'll probably watch another episode, but want to know if this is done throughout the series.

They are. The pilot and first few episodes give you a crash course on microexpressions, then they focus more on the story in later episodes. Keep watching, at least through the first season. It's a good watch.

Once they explain it to us, they don't need to again. That's how pilots work. I'd suggest watching at least a half dozen episodes. Then go from there. You should know by then if you like it or not.
