The main thing this reboot missed...

Was how Murphy never has to find his humanity again once he becomes Robocop.

In the original he had to struggle to rediscover that he was more than a machine.

I think that is one of the key elements that worked well in the original.

Why did this reboot not want to include this key point? Did the writers just miss it?

What they missed was being R rated, they did that effing Bull$hit where they toned it down to avoid an R rating. It is NEVER good to take a violent R rated story and remake it as a "family friendly" PG13 testament to political correctness.

Had this been a real R rated movie it would have been much better.

It missed virtually everything. Original robocop, alex murphy was a murdered cop, he woke up as a soulless machine, he lost everything, his sense of self, humanity, his family.

Rubbercop remake, alex gets a bit injured. And although a bit gruesome, he.gets a replacement iron man body. His memory isn't wiped, and he still has his family, although from watching the kid, i kinda wished he didn't. He never has to regain his sense of self, humanity, etc.

And there's the rest, no proper villain, sellers is a crap dick jones substitute, the violence just wasn't, none of the black.comedy of the.original, and when it tried hard to.be funny it failed. And i think it has the only.appearance on film of samuel l jackson that i didn't want to see.

I've seen this turd maybe 2 and a half times.I've watched the original upwards of 100 times, and.at least more than the remake since it came out. The only positive thing to say about rubbercop is that it's been mostly forgotten, the only reason i dredge this up is i find it an insult to the original, my favourite film. And people will still be watching that in another 30 years. :-)

I think the writers missed a lot of key points on what made the first RoboCop work.

They also missed that Robocop doesn't wear a suit similar to Iron Man's, nor does he ride a motorcycle in any of the previous 3 films (as I can remember), nor is he a romanticized PG-13 softy made for teens. The reboot is complete garbage. It lacks all the grittiness of the originals.
