Where's our own American military?

I've argued this point before.
The naysayers keep telling me that RED DAWN wasn't supposed to be about the U.S. military because it's a story of resistance and brotherhood (and sisterhood) among a group of young American teens.

At least in the first RED DAWN (1984) you saw some participation of the U.S. military: helicopters shooting up a Soviet/Cuban roadblock and attacking occupying Soviet/Cuban troops in the Colorado town, Calumet. There was the battle of the Russian tanks versus American M1 tanks.

This movie would have benefited from at least reassuring we Americans that our own military hadn't abandoned us or was completely inept.

You need to realize that the US Military would have been the first targets. By the time the insurgency begins the HARD STUFF would have already been hit. Possibly some completely eliminated.

North Korea isn't all that much of a REAL threat to us here on the US Mainland. EVER! They are smart enough to know a good offense, even a foolish one.

If there's a way to screw something up, the "O'Commie regime" will find it EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

More important, where is the navy? The North Koreans evidently make a sneak attack across the Pacific and keep their military fully supplied in spite of their lack of a merchant marine.

"You need to realize that the US Military would have been the first targets."
Which means that (1)the attack on Calumet would not be a surprise and (2)North Korea is radioactive rubble.

The same question has been asked about 9/11/2001.

I would suspect the military is mostly deployed in more important areas.
They wouldn't rush to *beep* Smaltown when there's a full invasion going on.
