couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of this

It was advertised as a comedy/drama. I found it neither funny, nor dramatic. I was bored senseless. I kept waiting and waiting to be entertained. Maybe I just happened to watch the worst 10 minutes of the film. I don't know. Stiller is talking to his tall blond friend - awkward silence and conversation ensues showing just how out-of-touch these two "friends" are. Ha ha ha...

Then he goes to a party filled with kids. Stiller is childless. More awkardness and disjointed conversation ensues. Ha ha ha.

He calls up some lady at night to ask her to go for drinks. They split a bottle of Corona. More awkward silences and un interesting conversation ensues. Ha ha ha...

How can anyone rate this film anything higher than a 3?

you missed the end scenes when he is asked to go to Australia with 2 girls and he says, yes why not? lets go...nevermind packing bags or buying tickets, let's do it...than changes his mind half way

I felt like you about this movie actually, didnt like it at all

I would give a movie MORE than 10 minutes. But I am not sticking up for this film by any means. It is rather disappointing.

reply

Wow I never met anyone who could be bored senseless within the space of 10 minutes.

I know what you mean I was a little thrown at the start esp for a ben stiller film.

Unlike you however I stuck with it and was rewarded with, in my opinion, was a difficult to watch yet brilliant movie. I loved the complex characters, loved the music score, and how it did not compromise the original premise.

I rated this movie an 8, and I do not rate many films this high.

I agree with you on this topic. I can't hate a movie just because it's so hard to watch or because the main character is such a jerk. But it was no comedy.

I watched about 5 minutes longer than you did...and wish I hadn't.

How can you ask this question? You have no right to argue how good a movie is if you only watch the first 10 minutes.

Wish I had walked out of the theatre after 10 mins. Wasted $3 at the second run theatre on this rubbish. Glad I wasn't the only one that felt that way...found a good succinct line about this movie on its Wikipedia page: "Christopher Tookey of the Daily Mail was perhaps the most harsh critic of the film: "This is the kind of low-budget movie that attracts respectful reviews, but tiny audiences. That's because there's virtually no story or character development and the main character's an idiot."

EXACTLY. Nothing happened in the film. It was a snoozefest.

A few years from now, give the film another try.

I think the movie resonates better with 40+ year olds.

Well, I'm 52 and I thought it was rather horrible. Very difficult to watch. Poor guy, he reminded me of men I dated when I was younger and couldn't stand having a drink with years later. I felt for Beth. Awkward, depressing. And Florence? What the hell?

Pointless film that will be screamed out by pretentious people as a classic slice of cinematography.......i loved Noah but this was frigging boring guys c'mon!
