Chico Xavier, the fraud

Well, isn't it obvious? Invariably, any supernatural claims are a load of bull. Don't be fooled, such things do not exist. Someone like Chico Xavier, who claims to listen to "spirits" or whatever, has to be swindling suckers or acting on a delusion. Or doing both at once. Here's a nice website that compiles some very damning evidence against him.

let me guess... you're an 'evangelical', right? Do you believe in everything the bible says or something?

I don't give a crap about religion (I think it's all BS), but the only proven fraud against this guy is that he wore an ugly ass wig.

You and your 'damning' evidence can't prove anything, just as I or anyone else can't disprove it.

Anyway, it's a well-known fact that Xavier never retained any of the profits to his books. He basically wrote them for free, and lived and died in poverty, although he could have been a millionaire if he wanted to. Can't say the same about any other major religious figure.

How about we end this right now and try to do HALF the good things this guy did to people in need, regardless of whether or not his supernatural claims are real? (and no, I don't think they are)

That'd be a contradiction -- I just said supernatural claims are always bull, didn't I?

Speak of contradictions: if you think his claims are not true, how can you think of him as not a fraud?

Try to read one of his books and you'll understand why, even if he was a fake psychic, he should be respected.

If the man was indeed a charlatan, at least he used his skills to provide relief and help to those in need. Even if it was through lies.

Which BTW is what basically every major religion is about - lies. Rituals, myths and stories to try to justify and explain the nonsense that is life. To most people, this provides relief.

I just have a question: How could Xavier be a fraud when he refused all the money from his 400 books? 25 million copies. Madness?

reply

Lies are lies, and religions have produced as much tangible suffering as "mental relief". Even with refusing most of the proceeds, I'm sure he was financially quite healthy, and certainly had more pussy than 10000 men could handle. There are millions of millionaires-- fame and influence are worth more. Conning people out of money to run a charity doesn't mean you are good person, a-holes like Bill Gates make that obvious.

Actually there is no ´evidence´ in the web site you appointed that Chico was a fraud... Besides, the author of the site, who seens to be totally ignorant of Xavier´s life, cant explain how a man who had no basic education could have access in the 30´s, in the very little city of Pedro Leopoldo to all the knowledge about history, geography, etc... His writings brought peace and confort to thousands of people, mothers, fathers, brothers, and he never gained a dim with that... He predicted his death, he could do things that NO ONE could explain... You can say one or two things that you can have some doubts about him, its fair, but he did THOUSANDS of wondrous deeds, miracles, would say some, and those, be sure, the author of the site dont even mention... Thats not science, thats just and plain atheism on its best arrogance mode possible...

reply

No basic education? Well then, why would some illiterate simpleton own hundreds of books and magazines in English, French, and even Hebrew?! His knowledge came from those, not from the 'spirit world' or whatever nonsense.

A partial blog post relying on "credible information from Waldo Vieira"?

Good joke.
