Variety review from Berlin

A not so nice review from the Berlinale:

"Rage, or at least indignant annoyance, may also be what some auds will feel after having paid to see this lame black comedy-cum-indictment of the fashion industry. Although name cast almost makes pic bearable, “Rage’s” absurd story about murder on the catwalk, told entirely through straight-to-camera monologs, reps a tiresome 94 minutes. Novelty of seeing Jude Law in drag and Judi Dench smoking a spliff may ensure limited theatrical outings."

"The magazine [Screen] wasn’t much nicer to Sally Potter’s “Rage,” which features a performance by Jude Law as a transsexual. “It’s just as well Jude Law looks good as a transsexual,” Screen said. “Because there’s little else on offer for the audience in Sally Potter’s amateurish and self-indulgent fashion-industry satire and murder mystery, except perhaps the emotion that gives the film its name.” Variety felt the film’s main offering wasn’t only Law’s aesthetically pleasing transexualism, but both the “novelty of seeing Jude Law in drag and Judi Dench smoking a spliff.” Otherwise, “‘Rage’s’ absurd story about murder on the catwalk, told entirely through straight-to-camera monologs, reps a tiresome 94 minutes.”"
