Did anyone in the movie really have supernatural powers?

I loved the movie. Found it really funny. But one thing got me thinking...
Did Cloney's character really have any "powers"?

It's seems to me that movie makes fun about paranormal research and is more a film about male bonding.

Cloney's character is totally useless with his powers in the real world and there is many examples in the film of it.
But didn't he stop the heart of the Goat, found that missing person, "saw" the man sitting in a chair och crashed those computers?

I think it makes it funnier if he didn't have any powers and killing the goat just was coincidence.

I think Lyn Cassady DID have the powers..to have more aplications in the real world it's a different matter

However idiotic Lyn seemed with his powers I did believe he really had them. The ending also to me proved that in the movie the whole New Earth Army thing was legit.

reply

The whole story is narrated by Bob Wilton, which showed his "superpower" at the end of the movie. In this case, normal critics would put him as an unreliable narrater and thus anything that Lyn did in bob's story cant be trusted either.

Movie is the last kind of art that keeps intriguing me

well he did have a record of 264 correct guesses on a coin flip so perhaps?

reply

Get real. There is no such thing as psychic powers.

So, you're new to this "fictional story" thing?

You are kidding, right?

In fiction, absolutely ANYTHING is possible if it's creator so desires. Psychic powers included.

According to Wilton.....who also says he ran through a wall.
So can we trust what Wilton says Lynn did as the truth?

reply

The one armed editor has supernatural powers. No other explanation for the wife leaving Ewan McGregor's character.

reply

It is a scientific fact that women who use the 'sparkly eyes technique' (for which science has no explanation) get whatever they want from men thus proving that techniques is both psychic and real.

I don't think the movie made fun of folks with paranormal powers, but questioned the audience as how much of it to believe, which opens up a can of worms as to what was true and what was embellished for the movieSource:Movie Reviews The Men Who Stare At Goatshttp://moviereviews.noskram.com/2010/01/movie-reviews-the-men-who-star e-at-goats
