Gayest movie ever

... says the guy next to me, who saw it in theaters and fell asleep twice because the plot was like a roller coaster on flat ground.

... ladies.

reply

Using terms that identify homosexual people as a derogatory slur, as you just did here is pretty pathetic.

Oh jeez. It's the PC police.

reply

No, it is someone who expects people to be treated as individuals deserving of dignity, not as substitutions for derogatory language.

this tells me that the creator of this thread is an immature idiot who's mind consists of explosions and pretty colours. The kinda person who's more into the transformers movies, and can't stop to appreciate a movie like this, and instead critisizes it with needless homophobia.

reply

Yes, I agree.

reply

Did you read anything in the post besides the title? The OP says it was said by someone else in the theater so you can hardly say the OP was being "homophobic". Judging by the post the OP didn't like the movie but does the OP implicitly state that they agreed with the opinion of the other person as this being the "gayest movie ever", no, the OP doesn't.

reply

Yes, I read the whole thread. The "excuse" that they were just repeating what someone else said, so they're not the homophobic bigot is pretty pathetic.

reply

WOW, I'm going to watch this one this evening I hope it will not turn out to be as gay as that person said. I mean, I could stand some degree of gayness but I hope I will not waste some 120 minutes of my life watching the gayest movie ever.

Gay Regards to everybody

Oh c'mon. It's not like being "gay" is normal, healthy, or moral. Sorry, it's not. If finding homosexuality unacceptable is wrong, take it up with God. And if you want to dismiss the idea of a creator/God, take that up with Lee Strobel.
Don't be too quick to dismiss the possibility of a creator-God.

reply

[deleted]

Because Lee Strobel is the definitive word on life, the universe, and everything.

Normal: It's not uncommon practice in many mammalian species and there is a near-certain link between sexual orientation and an individual's biochemistry.

Healthy: What, like AIDs? No, AIDs isn't the wrath of God toward homosexuals, as it also inhabits heterosexuals. So, unless sex itself is unhealthy...not really any less healthy to be gay....

Moral: Well, that's all opinion and conjecture. What is 'moral'? Who defines what moral is? More over, if moral is objective (which it isn't) why do so many people have such differing views on morality?

It's 'unacceptable'? Well how do you fix it to be acceptable? Force them to be straight? Use electrodes like ye olde mental institutions? Make em watch straight porn until whabam! they're not gay any more?

I mean, if homosexuality is against God, then why the bloody hell did he make so many of them?!

And before you go into some kinda 'you secular...', this argument is coming from a christian who has had it up to here...well, you can't rightly see that line I guess...I've had enough (that better?) of the bigoted hate, especially when we're supposed to, oh, love each other unconditionally.

reply

Thanks, Riley0411! That is a great post; it rocks! I totally agree with you, and am a similar Christian to how you're describing yourself.

Boohoo! What a little crybaby. I like homos and heteros all the same. We are all just people. However, the words "gay" and *beep* have been completely transformed during my generation to mean something else. "Fag" use to be a cigarette. Later it was used to refer to a homosexual man. Now it has nothing to do with sexual orientation, but refers to something that is obnoxious or annoying.

Using a word and and repeating a word means diddly-squat. Content within what is being said is what is important. Communication within the English language is built on context. We have hundreds of words that mean the same thing and words that mean a hundred different things.

Be more concerned with what intent and context, and less about a person's choice of words. Basically, stop being gay!

reply

You don't get it. Language has power, and to use the title of a group of people to mean "bad, pathetic or wrong" is not right. Shall we start using you name that way? It isn't cool, and neither is your post. Defending bigotry isn't right.

And by the way, "fag" still does have connotations of sexual orientation. You're totally wrong on that one. If you don't think so, check out the Minnesota school district that has had a rash of suicides because students were taunted for being gay or perceived as gay. One of the terms flung at them, in a very insulting manner was "fag," not just because bullies found these students "obnoxious or annoying" but because they were making fun of their sexual orientation, perceived or actual.

reply

No, you are the one that doesn't get it. Words are not ideas. Words are a tool for conveying ideas. I can change the meaning of a word simply by the pitch of my voice or the facial expression I make when I use the word. I can change the meaning of a word simply by changing the situation I am using it in. I can change how I feel about words when they are used against me. I can turn an insult against me into my own private little joke. If someone is trying to be hurtful, I don't care and I wouldn't care. People who obsess over words are mentally and emotionally handicapped. Those kids didn't commit suicide because someone called them a fag. They did it because others were being hurtful. Do you think if *beep* and "gay" were removed from the English language that the bullies would have just gone away? "Oh damn, we can't call homosexuals *beep* anymore, I guess we will just have to learn to love our fellow brothers as people and go about our day".

The kids that committed suicide were unfortunate. Not because they were picked on, so much as the fact that they didn't have role models and teachers in their life to teach them the tools for surveying a suck ass brutal world. People are dicks, and you can't change that. You especially can't change it by trying to dictate which words can and can't be used. Take away *ni**er* and racism doesn't go away. You make the problem worse by giving a word more power than it should have.

Your extreme case of political correctness is equally as obnoxious and ignorant as the people you accuse of being intolerant and hurtful towards others. You propagate hatred, and in doing so, you are the same as the people you speak out against. I have homosexual people in my life that are very important to me. Two of them are mentors in a way, and I love them dearly. They are old-school, and I would never call them a *beep* because they didn't grow up with me, and do not understand the context. I would call my best friend a *beep* or gay in a second, because he does understand context.

My family is Jewish. You think I give a *beep* when my friends crack jew jokes at me? I would be in deep sh*t if I did, because the jokes aren't going away. I think your heart is in the right place, but you haven't thought things out. Stop getting all butt-hurt over the choice of words people use.

reply

"No, you are the one that doesn't get it. Words are not ideas. Words are a tool for conveying ideas. I can change the meaning of a word simply by the pitch of my voice or the facial expression I make when I use the word. "

*beep* The dictionionary proves otherwise. Words have specific and prescribed meanings.

Your "knowledge" of the "hatred" that I "propagate" and of my "heart" is no knowledge at all, and is extremely ignorant and condescending. I hope you enjoy your imagined feelings of superiority. But then, people who use ignorant, bigoted slurs and defend them often react in anger and deluded self-righteousness when someone has the guts to call them out on their mean-spirited, and bigot apologetic behavior.

Bye now. Have fun with that.

I'm sorry that you are a moron. You are the one who is butt-hurt over what someone else said. You are the one pointing fingers and being judgmental. I'm sure that being ultra PC gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling about how great you are to be standing up for the feelings of others. In your little world, I am sure that what you are saying makes sense to you, but you are wrong. Most likely, it is because you are dumb.

F*ggot is not in the dictionary, and probably never will be. So, I guess since it isn't in the dictionary, it doesn't have a meaning? Merriam-webster updates their dictionary a lot because the meaning of words change. Also, words do not have specific meanings. Maybe if you take the time to ever look at one you'll notice that words have lots of different meanings.

reply

You might not want to include the word "think" in your posts, as the evidence suggests that you don't.

I assume then you must have seen all the other "gay movies" in order to decide which was the very "gayest" of them all.

If that's what turns you on, more power to ya.

Myself I didn't think the movie was "gay" at all but frankly I wasn't really looking eagerly for such things as apparently you do so I wouldn't have cared if it was or not.

Good luck in finding even "gayer" movies in the future. From the sounds of things you will probably enjoy them tremendously.

I think the movie just concentrated on soldiers, so plenty of guys around, I don't think there's anything to be read into thatSource:Movie Reviews The Men Who Stare At Goatshttp://moviereviews.noskram.com/2010/01/movie-reviews-the-men-who-star e-at-goats

Just the fact that you used the term "gayest" pretty much indicates your opinion is that of a moron.

reply

Not to mention how evil your filthy blood-sucking flesh-eating religion is. Despising anybody for their sexual proclivities just reinforces the hypocritical ignorance of all slavish adherents to any of the barbaric abrahamic cults.
