One thing that bothered me...*spoilers*

After surviving a shootout for a priceless Jackson Pollock piece they assume it's worthless, even using it as a floor spread.

So they've just blown up a car as part of an elaborate scheme to get it, survived a shootout wherein at least a dozen cops wielding gas bombs and machine guns were attacking them and they assume it's worthless?!

What the hell?!

Morality is temporary, wisdom is permanent.

So why not?

They aren't very intelligent - obviously. That's why there smugglers and not bank clerks. :)

For one thing, they're never portrayed as 'stupid' or anything less than at least moderately intelligent people, figuring out that this was worth something does not require a rocket scientist.

In heaven everything is fine, you've got your good things and I've got mine.

I agree. They are not stupid. I don't believe they thought the painting was worthless. Here's my take on why they did what they did.

First of all, it might have been a comedic device used by the filmmakers to insert a little humor into all the tension. Taking this obviously extremely valuable piece of art and basically using it as a tarpaulin is pretty funny.

That possibility notwithstanding, there's another way to look at it. These guys were under enormous pressure to get the goods and get back to the ship. They must have been extremely shaken up after all that had just happened (showing up and finding the money missing, being nearly killed execution style, forced into the middle of an armored vehicle art heist). They probably weren't thinking very clearly and were just focused on getting the hell out of there as quickly as possible. Also, they might have felt that getting mixed up in trying to unload a very high-profile piece of stolen art was more trouble than they were interested in taking on, or even capable of taking on. Kristófer was looking to do this one, simple job and be done with it, with as little complications as possible and get back to his wife and kids. I can see him not wanting to get mixed up or entangled in any more than he absolutely had to.

I think they were more intent on escaping the gunfight, the gangsters and the police than worrying about something with which they weren't used to dealing. Kristofer knew alcohol, not art.🐭
