Why available today on DVD but not Blu-Ray?

I just picked up this series from Amazon on DVD and really enjoy it! It's quite well-done I think, and at $10 for the DVD the price is excellent.

However I was really hoping to grab it on Blu-Ray, not DVD. But for some reason, while the DVD is still readily available, it seems that the Blu-Ray is out of print and can only be found used. Is it just me, or does this feel backwards to anyone else?

For a show like this, you really want the best possible image quality.

In any case, it's a very good series and the DVDs still look quite good, so if you're into stuff about the U.S. space program and have $10 so spare then I'd definitely recommend it!

Is the Amazon DVD burned? Probably not repressing Blu Ray because it's streaming.

I was surprised I rated it on IMDb. I must have rented the DVDs ten years ago.

No, it's not burned. It's actually a great four-disc set that comes in a surprisingly nice case. Hell of a deal for 10 bucks.

It just doesn't make sense to me that it's still available on DVD but not Blu-Ray. I mean, it WAS released on Blu-Ray and that is the more modern format so it seems like they'd keep it in print.

Oh well. Like I said in the OP, the DVDs still look pretty good so it's not a huge deal.
