Best Low Budget Film since Bad Taste?

After all the hard work put into this movie for the last four years Brighton Wok finally made it to the cinema. A fast paced roller-coaster of a movie packed with references to classic kung fu films, both obvious and subtle, and with an unmistakable British sense of humour that delights and surprises in equal measure. There is a surprising attention to detail and quality of production to this movie for its small budget, set and made all in Brighton and although at times the acting appears to be as though its just the directors mates and some random people off the street the movie never hangs around too long for this to be an issue. The pick of the acting bunch for me are the Trio who delve in and out of the movie to add a slight Shakespearian twang to the precedings between acts. This is no spoof movie with a poor plot and a collection of laugh a minute gags, Kung Pow this movie is not. At times the movie is dark and sinister and with a stunning soundtrack, Ben Sarfas, is emotionally embracing and captivating.
So, is this the best low budget, made in a bedroom film since Bad Taste?

reply

I would agree, I was blow away by the production values that this low budget movie has achieved, I have seen major movies not manage this.

And yes it has got to be up there with bad taste.

I think that the director might have some real potential for the future.

This films looks bad to me and with the amount of people who have voted it 10/10 its blatantly obvious its the film makers and their family/friends who have done most of the voting.

But ill give it a go!

First of all, I'd like to say that I am quite keen on getting a hold of this movie and watching it, kung-fu references, British humour, a main character called Vafan Cuolo alone is enough to make me want to watch this.

Having said that, the fact that 2 people wrote on this board, and both of them never seem to have written anything else on imdb ever does seem a bit suspicious.... :-)

If you were involved in making this movie and you wrote these messages... please let me know where I can get a copy of this!! I live in London.

Quick question: how many of you guys worked on the film?

This reeks of a director commenting on his own film.

reply

No, I didnt have anything to do with the making of this movie, but I was aware that it was being made in my hometown and saw the premier. I think it's a really really cool movie and I came on here to try to drum-up some more support.

why the accusatory attitude Sparkinson?
