The scene where the mother brings Brad and Ingrid cookies in his room is one of the most awkward scenes ever filmed. Then she returns seconds later with beverages and then stands there making faces for 45 seconds while they just state at her lol. Made me squirm.
shareYeah, the scenes between the three of them are all strange and uncomfortable; some real bizarre, totally off-beat familial dynamic there. Perfectly orchestrated and acted, one can almost cut the thick air with a knife. One can actually see where the matricide may have come from... sort of.

It was a pitch-perfect scene, putting the "cringe" in cringe comedy. It was also sad; this lonely old woman desperate trying her best to continue being a part of her son's life.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
Totally... I'm starting to see why some people say this movie is 'strange'... it's because they're used to formulas.. obvious ways of displaying dysfunction or love. That's not how it always works. Especially with someone who has a mental illness.
