To Those Who Dislike (and Like) The Film

I just hope you do for the right reasons.

You may be interested to know that it is based on a true story, that of Mark Yavorsky. Here is a good link: www.bu.edu/today/2010/a-murder-that-mimicked-greek-tragedy/

It is a remarkable story. Lynch had 0 input on the film; his company only financed the film. The script was written 15 years before production, by a BU professor.

The film is, essentially, a study of one man's insanity. You could easily argue that it is a character study. Personally, I find that the movie falls somewhere between Pi (1998) and The Master (2012) ...after my initial viewing.

I would be curious to know if the people who dislike the film have actually ever met (actually face-to-face) a certifiable lunatic?

reply

Not sure what bearing does having or not having "ever met a certifiable lunatic" have on the quality of the film...

1. Did you read my post?
2. Is English your first language?
3. Do you enjoy taking bits of sentences out of context to form insane straw man arguments?

reply

1. Yeah. It's kind of confusing, hopping impatiently from one unrelated talking point to another.
2. Nope.
3. I didn't form any arguments, strawman or otherwise, I was wondering what bearing might having or not having ever met a genuine lunatic, have on one's appreciation of the film. The suggestion seems to be that those who indeed 'have' met such a character, are more liable to like the movie than the others - a notion I don't think I necessarily agree with.
