Just saw the film today in BFI Festival

Hey Guys

Just saw Brighton Rock in the secret showing in the BFI London Film Festival in the Vue

Just thought i would come in here and let you guys know about

The film is good but not great in my opinion

Things i like
how it is filmed
thought the soundtrack was brilliant
Sam Riley
Andrea Riseborough
some moments where classic and laugh out in just a bleak/dark film

things i didnt like
Got a bit boring half way through the film and nearly fell at sleep(maybe it was my fault because just came out of a 8 hour Cima Revison study i was tired)
ending disappointed me
Andy serkis is underused

Didnt see the original film or read the book,so i cant really judge

It is worth more than the current 5.5 rating, i give it a least a 7

I will be happy answer questions if you guys have any

i quite liked the ending actually. would have preferred a lighter movie as the surprise but didn't hate it at all...

Not sure I agree.
I thought Sam Riley was pretty dreaful, not really getting hold of who his character was. At times it seemed like he was attempting an impression of Peter Lorre.
In fact I wasn't a fan of any of the acting, feeling like John Hurt was acting like he was in Eastenders, and Andrea Riseborough very uninspiring.

I wanted to like it and there were some moments where it came alive, but I found myself unengaged for the most part.

What with this and Capitalism; A Love Story from last year, Sandra Hebron really needs to up her game with the Surprise Film. Where were True Grit or Rabbit Hole?
