Honestly, there were some things she said that made me think so. It wasn't clear to me. But then I'm usually not clear on these types of things.

shareI think you are right, I got the feeling from some of her comments. It was implied more than spelled out for the audience, but she had certainly seen the darker side of life and she was the kind of woman attracted to the criminal element.

I wonder about the age of the posters on this thread. They seem to have lived sheltered lives. She was a widow in a high-crime, blue-collar neighborhood, and she wasn't young, but of course she had probably seen a lot of life.
When you get to be her age you'll know for yourself.
I'm just struck by the sexism implicit in the original question. She had seen the rough side of life, so she was a prostitute? Was Corkery then a pimp?
