Ice Cube Proves Again That He Has No Acting Skills

Can somebody please explain why Ice Cube and other rap stars, like 50 Cents, Snoop Dog &c. get cast in major film productions, despite them never ever showing any acting skills at all?

While I'd agree with that general assessment, I thought he was somewhat funny this time as the ABD.

Yeah, maybe it was his best performance ever! He really made me laugth in this movie.

I guess it's the movie makers' way to draw more attention (name recognition) to the movies.

Please OP, while I agree he isn't the best actor around, the part didn't require much skill other than to cuss and be mean. What, you want some oscar winner to waste his time on that $hit? He played the part just as he was suppose to and was funny.

I agree lordofwar96 that Ice Cube's role didn't require much acting skill but he was effective. This version of 21 Jump was a dark comedy with outrageous characters. As an educator I laughed at the ridiculous scenes especially when Hill and Channing encounter the Coach after taking the 'H.F.C.' drug. That was a funny scene and both Hill and Channing pulled it off. And Comedy is so hard to do.

Op, snoop was never done a serious role to my knowledge and his acting is funny for what it is. Ice cube proved he had some talent in boys n the hood and Friday.

Has anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken?

Watch Training Day, Snoop had a serious role and did a great job imo.

What acting skills do you need to play that role? It's just angry over the top cop. I thought it was good enough for the film. And he is a pretty good actor actually, much better than those other guys you mention.
