Animal cruelty - not simulated.
The scene in which Connor catches a fish in the river, leaves it agonizing on the grass for a while, then pierces it with a stick from mouth to bottom, was evidently not simulated.
I am always appalled by such gratuituous scenes in films. Why on Earth would you kill an animal and film the process? Only a sicko could do it. Do you enjoy seeing helpless animals agonizing? Or killing them purposely for a film? You probably tortured little animals as a kid, and grew up considering it normal.
Maybe the director thinks, like many other talentless hacks who resort to animal cruelty, that those parts make the film better and more "real". Sorry honey, your already mediocre film only becomes worse this way. It's not poignant, it's not needed, it's just disgusting and pointless abuse. If you really need to use animal abuse (which is not this film's case), for instance to make a sad or upsetting scene, obviously a sane person would simulate it.
I am also disappointed with Fassbender for accepting to do such a tasteless scene. Shame that poor fish died for the sake of this stupid, insignificant film. And people still acclaim this garbage. Poor world.
🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾
