On a related note ... I'm pretty sure that all the cocktail waitresses/dealers in Vegas are officially hired as "entertainers." This allows the casinos to use, well, discriminatory hiring practices, and to require whatever uniforms they want.
It doesn't bother me too much. If you don't like it, you don't have to work there. I'm sure they think the tips are worth it.
As far as the "double standard" -- the thing is that the skimpy outfits on women are directly related to a heck of a lot more spending by men. It just doesn't work the same way for male employees, though. Women just aren't as visual, as a general rule. Skimpy outfits on the men wouldn't make a big difference.
