This show was just a few years too early

Anthology shows like Fargo, True Detective, American Horror Story, and Scream Queens are becoming common place now. A single season that tells a complete story. And yet no one will remember that it was actually Harper's Island that re-introduced this format to television. Its poor ratings made it so the show would not continue but I'm pretty sure producers like Ryan Murphy took notice of what the genre could be like when this premiered six years ago.

If anything, it was too late. We've seen all this teenager slasher horror revival in the shape of the Scream-movies, I Know What You Did Last Summer-movies, Urban Legend etc. Harper's Island is the same thing repackaged as a TV show, but without the surprise effect.
