The scam...

It's been bugging me for some time... Just what did they do!?

Now, like the case with Double D's "What's under the hat" mystery, I guess nothing will top what our imaginations have come up with... A great idea, but it just doesn't satisfy me.

So... anyone want to take a stab and guess what they were trying to do before... well, whatever happened?

I recall someone mentioning they tried to tame a bear or something (what with the bear trap on Johnny's head), but Eddy later says, "Well you built the stupid thing!" So obviously it was a machine of some sort.

I think the problem is there just isn't enough to go off of, mainly because the after-math overshadowed the scam itself.

... Hell, maybe it was a robotic bear for all I know.

Whatever, great film. Should have been released in theaters.

"You're not the real Santy Claus!"

"Sure I am. Wanna see my gun?"

Lol. I laughed at the robotic bear comment.

It was probably best left to the imagination of viewers, but I do wonder...

I'm cool with not knowing. Best to leave it to our imaginations.

I think it was a magic show, that is why Nazz was in one of those boxes.

I like not knowing what the scam was, kind of like never exactly knowing what caused the dead to rise in Romero's Dead saga (and it wasn't the Venus space probe- that was a speculative compromise between Romero and Russo).

Still, in the beginning, you've got a tree knocked over and a bunch of rubble and garbage strewn about. C'mon! They've done much more property damage throughout the series than that (imagine the fines they'd have to pay!).

The real damage was done to the kids. Damn, Rolf should've been in ICU for Pete's sake, missing a shark-sized chunk of his torso and all...

So we'll never really know what happened. But we know that whatever it was, it was really, really bad...

Okay we have:
1.) A tree knocked over across the road
2.) A pipe torn from the ground and spewing water
3.) A tipped over Ice Cream Truck
4.) A canoe
5.) Trash and other debris streaming out of someones destroyed house (mainly the back door)
6.) Trash and garbage leading down the alley
7.) Nazz: beaten up, hair shaved and horrid looking, and inside a box with a star on it
8.) Kevin: Beaten up, torn clothes
9.) Johnny: Bear trap on head
10.) Plank: Broken in several places and chipped
11.) Rolph: Shirtless and a chunk missing from his body (most likely a bitten off) and a lump on his head that is also 'bitten' along with his arm.
12.) Sarah and Jimmy: completely oblivious to everything that happened.
13.) The Ed's: Scared *beep* because somehow this is all connected to them.

SO, here's what happened:

Eddy was inspired to make his own theme park after recieving his brother's Mondo A Go-Go postcard in the mail. So he started with gathering supplies needed to create roller coasters, they also gathered animals they found in the Peach Creek Forest and from Rolf's house. After that, they found that Nazz was interested in show business so they hires her to be an assistant in a magic show. Meanwhile, Kevin and Rolf decide to try out this roller coaster after Johnny tells them how awesome it was. (because plank's love for rides led Johnny to going on it.) So as Nazz was getting fitted into a box that was made for her to disappear in, Double D decided to give her one final touch up on her hair before he started the show. However, he saw that one of the raccoons that they collected for the petting zoo had escaped. He got nervous but continued on Nazz's hair. The raccoon made its way over and and started sniffing Double D's leg. Double D is now scared to death but is trying very hard not to show his fear in front of Nazz. CHOMP! The raccoon bites Double D's leg. YOUCH! Double D screams and accidently shaves most of Nazz's hair off. She screams and takes off running while yelling and crying. She isn't watching where she is going and runs onto the roller coaster track just as Rolf, Kevin, Johnny and Plank are coming down. They slam into her and fly off the track and fly straight through someones house and shoot through the back door, taking much debris with them. Everyone is ejected from the roller coaster cart. Rolf lands in the petting zoo and is brutally attacked by the animals. A rabid llama bites a chomp off his torso, he hits his head on a rock and gets a huge bump on his head, the rabid llama bites that too. Kevin hits a tree and is flung back into the street where he lands on the windshield of a passing ice cream truck. The ice cream struck swerves off the road and through someones yard where it hit the tree and knocked it over. The tree fell on a the mechanical T-Rex that The Ed's used in there time travel scam. They had rebuilt it for a ride in the amusement park. The tree falls on it and activates it. Johnny, Plank, Rolf, Kevin and Nazz are sucked into the machine from underneath and spat out of the mouth (Johnny's big-ass head took the teeth of the T-Rex with him), they land in a stream that The Ed's made for a canoe ride. Hence, the pipe pulled from the ground, they used it to create a stream. The kids land in a canoe on this stream. Ed runs over to help and dives into the stream causing all of the water and the canoe to splash out and land in the neighbor's yard. When the Ed's realize what has just happened, Eddy panics and tries to stop the kids from the impaling them. He runs over to the T-Rex with Ed and orders Ed to knock it over. He does and it lands on the kids and EXPLODES. (hence, the absence of actually seeing the T-Rex). The Ed's take off and the movie begins from there!
And Sarah and Jimmy don't notice because Jimmy is singing Hannah Monatana songs for sarah in a 'pretend concert' and the microphone and speakers are turned up REALLY loud.

And thus, we have the scam.

I adore this explanation, and the time you took coming up with it.

That makes absolutely perfect sense. I like.

Unbent. Unbowed. Unbroken.

thank you and thank you :D

Genocide, your explanation is brilliant.

Agreed. I really like the thought put in to it. Had me laughing.

"You're not the real Santy Claus!"

"Sure I am. Wanna see my gun?"

I gotta tell you, that explanation has a lot of class. It's an "Eds" type of situation, for sure (save for the 'Hanna Montana' bit, I'm sure that any typical, generic disco-type muzak would serve the same purpose). It's evident that you put a lot of thought into your research, and you've shown a genuine understanding of the tone and style of the series.

Sorry, I'm intoxicated. Good show, is my point. Damn it all...

well being a big fan of the show since it first came out i felt i could re-create a typical 'Ed's situation' fairly easily. So thanks again guys!

There's just one thing, the edds mention the red button in the movie, it's part of a fight they have. You haven't mentioned the red button. But apparently it's a big thing seeing as how it apparently set off this whole affair.

Makes alot.of sense

Nearly flawless, remarkable work! However, you forgot a factor, the tipped over Ice Cream truck. Here's my take on that:

The Eds got into the ice cream truck to speed away from the kids and get stuck in the alley and the truck stalls. The kids chase after them and start to push the truck over. And the Eds escape through the sunroof as the truck goes over. But as it goes over, an ice cream cone of vanilla (seen at the very beginning of the film) is thrown from the truck and lands on the sidewalk where ants start to scramble on it. The Eds then run to their homes while the kids try to get into the truck. During this time, Sarah and Jimmy are having a tea party and decide it would be fun to pretend to be filming a movie where Jimmy was a bloodthirsty pirate. Thus, taking the movie from that point.

The only thing I don't really get is how they EXACTLY knew where Eddy's brother was. Another thing, I would like to see a sequel with the Gourd taking vengeance and the kids having to dress up as superheroes to conceal the neighborhood's problems. OR, a continuation where they are on their trek home where Johnny (the Gourd) misleads them and tries to get vengeance on them while kidnapping them and holding ransom. I don't know, I can really only think of TV-14 things for some weird reason.
