The scene where they started to feel something wrong with the people in the hotel , i really can't get all of the things they found weird because i'm not American and i don't know exactly how was America in the 80s .. of course i get some clear points like the "Walkman" and MTV channel and Sesame street .. but what was wrong with the black guy with the cigarette? and they said something about the food? and the pizza guy with "Miami" shirt? the cigarettes seller? i need someone generous enough to tell me what was weird with those things .. thanks

The people had 1980s fashion, hairstyles and clothing which gave the game away.

the black guy had his hair in a style that was called "jheri curl". It was a very popular wet look for black people.

The guy in the t-shirt it was the logo for the TV show "Miami Vice" a cop action show that was super popular.

All the anti-tobacco advertising, and indoor smoking bans have been instituted since the 1980s, as well.

Ah, I did not get that because people still smoke like chimneys in my country. LOL.

I'm not American either but I grew up watching a lot of American films especially 80s & 90s films, the Miami Vice shirt was a reference to the famous Don Johnson series Miami Vice which was very popular in the 80s. I never saw this myself, but remember it was popular, I was too young to watch that. The Black guy had a jeri curl (spelling?) a type of hairstyle popular for African Americans in the 80s. I don't remember any references to the food though. I remember Alfie, I used to watch that as a kid, my memories of the 80s were all kid films, shows & Japanese sayan shows. The cigarette, was it Camel? My dad used to smoke that.
