What about 'Midnight Run' (1988)?

Am I the only one who thinks that Martin Brest's "Midnight Run" (1988), with Robert de Niro and Charles Grodin, is unbelievably funnier than "Due Date"?

The story is admittedly different, but it also relies on two mismatched characters stuck in a car trip across USA. In my humble opinion, the couple de Niro/Grodin works far better than RDJr/Galifianakis. Yaphet Kotto, Dennis Farina and John Ashton also do great performances. And the script is better written.

Seems like a rather random post. I've only seen bits and piece of Midnight Run. I hear it is very good, but the parts I have seen don't seem particularly funny.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is another similar movie. In fact, in the fifties they had a whole genre of this type of film, called "road movies".

It happens ALL the time here in IMDb.

And it seems rather useless and self-aggrandizing.

It is sooooo played out that you feel like you have to make a thread like this when you think of a movie that is SOMEwhat LIKE the movie being discussed, but you think THE OTHER MOVIE is better.

Another common BRIGHT idea is to just say that one movie is JUST A CHEAP RIPOFF of some other movie. "It's just like XYZ!"

Try to restrain yourself next time, okay?

NO, you're NOT the only one.

OF COURSE Midnight Run is better. It's a classic. It's genius.

Congratulations, you're now a movie critic. <sarcasm>
