Is Ethan gay?

He dresses like he's gay, talks like he's gay, and the way he walks - I mean oh my god. He masturbated while Peter was in the car (what straight guy would be able to jack off with another man right there?). I bet he was thinking about Peter while doing it! And he seemed excited when Peter gave him a "smooch".

He never mentioned having a girlfriend or being interested in a woman, he only said he had slept with a girl when he was 9, but that seemed made-up to me.

Not even remotely important.

That wasn't a character trait that was the actor. If you seen Galifianakis in Hangover he acts the same way. The dude's a total Strag.

reply

This character is queer.
I don't know nor care if the "actor" is.

There were like, 16 definitions for "strag", which one pertains best in this context?

straight acting gay?

Zach acts like that in all of his movie rolls and stand up performances. Somehow I don't think its his character, but what he wants his character to be.

Do you think they're cognizant of how bad they got it?
Lets hope not poor b@sterds

The way he acted, spoke and walked was to convey he was this weird eccentric guy with no idea about how he is perceived. Not an indication of his sexuality.

I agree with this.
Though he does strike me as someone who would have sex with anything no matter the gender or species.

Exactly. It's acting 101. It creates a feeling of awkwardness and unpredictability. Zack has played characters that act this way because it is what he finds funny. His stand-up does not incorporate it though.

Lol its amazing how inadvertantly homophobic people can be and how stereotypes influence opinions.

Firstly, Im a gay guy. I like football (Soccer), I talk with a normal deep voice, I walk normally, perhaps with a bit of a strut. I typically wear jeans and a T-Shirt. I wear boxers not briefs ;). I have no hand mannerisms, I dont walk an overly small dog, I can get changed in a changing rooms without feeling the need to eye someone up. Im introverted and dont display emotions.

Unless you asked me or seen with a partner being affectionate, you would deduce I was straight, and you would be wrong.

Already in this thread theres been the mention of almost every false stereotype along with the use of the word queer, which personally i think is a terrible word. And somehow someone managed to link a certain breed of dog to a certain sexuality. Amazing *applauds sarcastically*

While I realise this post might come off as high and mighty, I just wish some folk would graps the tiny concept that being gay, means simply to be sexually attracted to the same gender. Being effeminate is an ENTIRELY different trait that sometimes does appear in gay people, but also, sometimes DOESNT....almost like EVERY OTHER trait combination.

But do straight guys mince, other than for humorous effect ?

I take the character to be unknowingly gay.

reply

Golly, I'm impressed by your avoidance of stereotypes. People separate themselves from stereotypes and they think they're the salt of the earth!

And yes I agree, the word queer is so terrible, in spite of its clean origins. And the fact that movies should have 30 variations of the F-word, but not the N-word or the Q-word. That would go against the hip, Hollywood politics of the day.

There are more queer things than that in the world. Zachs characters always exponent certain weaknesses of people
