my toughts

I think this was in a way a very good docu,I am dutch and gave birth to 2 children both in hospital this was not planned. I wanted home birth but with my eldest it had to be induced due to infection because my water had broke, and labor was no were near to come, so then you follow 48 hours protocol, I still did deliver without help or drugs and my girl was born naturally within 5 hours, wonderfull

with my second child I was 43!! weeks pregnant so they had to force me (again) into labor, good thing I was in the hospital otherwise she would have died the cord was strangled 3 times. at home she certainly would have died I had to have a c section after 30 hours of pain and because se did not lay correctly so I was unable to push her out.

but STILL I think giving birth naturally is the best way,IF there are no known risks and in the hospital is fine, but in the netherlands we have the opinion no pain no gain,no drugs!!! so I think there is a lot of truth in this docu, thoug some times I did find the dad very annoying!!!"handling the medical staff" what?!! my goodness he was a jealous child!, for the baby this was the best that the midwife thought it was best to go to te hospital, baby clearly did not get enough oxygen, the best thing to do then for annoying daddy's is to BACK OFF and let the medical staff do their best to save a child

I thought the interview with the Dutch midwife was one of the best parts of the movie. It's fascinating to see how childbirth is viewed in other countries. In most cases in U.S. hospitals, a 41-year-old pregnant woman would automatically be considered "high risk" due to her age and would probably end up with a C-section, so I thought that the Dutch woman interviewed in the movie was a great example in the film.
