Is it true Lindsay gave up a role in the Hangover to act in this film because she thought it (the Hangover) would go nowhere?

No, she didn't take the role in The Hangover because she didnt like the script (which is understandable because of the homophobic slurs in that movie) She didnt reject it to do this movie though

Judging by Labor Pains success and her role that she was given in the hangover I am happy that she didn't take it! Why would she be in a movie with homophobic slurs when she is bisexual?? That would not make any sense! Thank god she wasn't in that crap!!

Besides Labor Pains isn't that much of a success. It is for ABC Family tho. It's not as watched as other network channels.
If she was in The Hangover tho, she would prolly made more money off of it than Labor Pains. The Hangover actually is success. It has made a huge gross revenue and topped its competitor movies when it first premiered and did for weeks.

Lindsays never been much for money-movie-roles though, aside from her little Disney flicks like Herbie, Just My Luck and Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen, she has taken a major paycut in her other movies simply b/c she likes the scripts.
Im glad she didnt do The Hangover, its not edgy enough for her. Thats why Im desperately praying she'll do MACHETE!!!!!
I am happy she chooses to do good hearted comedies like Labor Pains and Mean Girls opposed to tastless, trashy comedies like The Hangover.
