Pretty good movie, I thought.

I thought S. Darko was well filmed, well written, well produced and well acted. I have no idea why everybody is so hard on this sequel, but that they are doesn't matter except that it will prevent others from seeing this film. I enjoyed it, though it didn't have quite the subtleties and complexity of Donnie Darko, it was still good and remained faithful to that original story line. I especially liked the beautiful scenery shots.

Same opinion here.
S. Darko is deeply flawed, and needless to say, not as intelligent nor complex as DD.
But is it worth of a 3.7? A rating comparable to the abysmal straight-to-TV SyFy flicks? Given the cinematography, photography, and music alone, the answer is no.

Man I thought the same I mean let`s go to the facts, usually movies when they have like part 2 or a sequence they are not as good as the first and I must say it the first was better then this one even though this movie is still good, I would rate Donnie Darko as a 9/10 or even 10/10 and S.Darko as a 6/10 or maybe 7/10 some people says that this movie sucks because it copies to much of the first one, ok I might agree with that I mean we are kind of telling the same story and many times things are just like the first copied, but really guys do you think that this is really bad? come on if you have a favorite movie and they do a part 2 which is really like the first but not as good as I am pretty sure you would like it. Anyway finally I see someone that agrees with me anyway I hope that will be a part 3 and a site just like http://www.donniedarko.org.uk/explanation/ that would totally explain S.darko

I give Donnie Darko a 10 and S. Darko a 6. I thought S. Darko's excessive aping of elements in the film, to the point of Trudy's awkward usage of "anus sex" to parallel with Kitty Farmer saying "anus" in Donnie Darko. I also thought Jeremy's insanity was kind of cheesily handled.

I hated Corey at first, but I really liked Daveigh Chase's performance as Sam. I think if the story had been allowed to breath more and not riff so much on the original and be more Sam's story, it would have been a better film. Still, I enjoyed watching it, think it's worth seeing, and appreciated its complexity.
