Is this based off the video game?

I wish. THAT would be a film worth making, and I was hoping the same thing the first time I heard the title too.. don't blame you for asking. If you can get past the horrible acting in this one, then the story is really quite good.

But back to the game aspect with all the attention being turned to the plots of video games lately in order to produce interesting films, they are missing out on one that would be not only a great CGI-fest but a good enough story that they could milk 3 films out of it. They just need to hire GOOD B listers that are either not going to ask for much cash to do the job, or A listers that don't mind a pay cut for an ensured 3 picture deal where most of the time they'll be green screened.

Hell, even easier do the Beowulf thing and make it a 3D film trilogy, SINCE the game itself was so revolutionary for its use of 3D RTS. Lots of sitting in cockpits dogfighting, and being on ship bridges when they explode. Since it would be closer to BSG (lack of prosthetic aliens) than Star Trek ('made for nerds' - except for the new one) I think it would attract a HUGE audience.

OTOH, its a LOT like BSG, and the OLD BSG btw.
