Seriously?! Since 2006 and the release of KANK, I've always gone to the theatre to see movies that he's starred in. I've read conflicting reports--that his role is supporting and that it's an extended cameo. So if it's a cameo, I'll wait for the DVD.

Thanks for the info.

He is in the film for about 40 minutes - a strong presence throughout the film.

about 59 minutes. deffo not 40 minutes. he alone had 10 to 7 mins everytime he appeared onscreen.

Can't imagine the use of "cameo" here. Sahir Khan is what precipitates the crisis in Billu's life. There's nothing casual about the part SRK plays. Sure, its a supporting role, but it is a critical supporting role.

"even in RNBDJ his alternate persona was very modern and liberal"

ROFL!!!!!!! I am amazed at your perspicacity. Ever been to a small town in India?

Raj was nothing like Om of OSO or Sahil of Billu. Sahil really is only an extension of his personality while Om is an exaggeration. Raj was just a loudmouth punjabi dude. He actually reminded me of one of my pals in India.

well, like i said. Sahil and Om were cool guys but Raj was just about as uncool and loud a guy can ever be. Its a dorky man trying to be cool.

"what I said was that SRK has lately been playing cool guy-high profile personas in his movies... which is something that Sahil, Om and Raj all have in common. "

I feel sorry for anyone who thinks Raj was cool! It actually made me laugh so hard to read this. I hope this is not a product of you environment pitviper! Raj was the antithesis of cool.

^^Exactly!
I always think it's silly when people say that srk has played similar roles in OSO, RNBDJ and Billu.
Om Kapoor may have been 'cool' for some people but he was a crap actor and a spoilt star son brat - at least until the makhija part came through- and therefore in a way he wasn't really cool.

Sahir khan seems similar to OK from the trailers but when you see actual movie, you realise, he is totally different. He was actually very cool but he was far, very far from being a brat. He was shown as a very down to earth, kind-hearted star, a genuinely good actor and someone who had to struggle to get where he was- definitely not a star son. The only similarity is that he is also a superstar- but that hardly matters, not even for an instant i was reminded of OK during Billu Barber. But I'm sure if you wanted you could find similarities in every role- eg both billu and sweeny todd are also barbers or hairdressers lol.

as for Suri playing RAJ- he is the most different guy. I agree with niki foonts and RobertKB, that Raj is far from being cool. He was a wannabe cool guy- a complete jerk- but who at heart was a nice guy- cause he is not Raj but Suri.

In fact I think SRK played Suri playing Raj perfectly. At first I thought he was over the top, because I fell into the trap of thinking that Raj should be a cool guy from the promos. But then i realised he's not, cause there is no way that someone like Suri could really turn into a cool guy in an instant, but a wannabe is very much possible. And i think that the raj part of Suri was in fact much more harder to play than the real Suri and I'm so glad that SRK played it so well. (anyway sorry for going offtopic)

But SRK's role in Billu Barber is definitely very crucial and he's done an excellent job. He hasn't really played himself either. Some parts might be, but the mannerisms of sahir khan were very different. I especially felt this in the speech scene - everything about him was different to how srk behaves and speaks. Also I liked that they did give Sahir khan a bigger role, cause it made the emotional scenes seem more real. We were actually able to relate to him. If all they had shown was him in a small appearance, I don't think I would have been so touched by the end. I give full credit to Irrfan as well for his perfect portrayal of Billu- I felt so sad for him one song.

Anyway so i absolutely loved Billu Barber ,- a lot more than RNBDJ- which could have been very good but was very flawed and therefore an average movie. but it was made memorable by srk's amazing performance.

65, probably. When I saw the movie, he did tons of songs and there was some songs with Irfan Khan and the village. I think SRK did some scenes and Irfan Khan did some scenes but SRK the most. I saw him in most of the scenes.

I LOVE THE JONAS BROTHERS!!!<3
