What's with the Keystone Cops?

Thought it was a great movie, aside from the over-eager and wreck-less police (when the professor is killed). It was actually funny, watching the cops chasing the 'killer', who in turn are being chased down by the police cars.

Let's not forget the C.H.I.P.S. style car crash and explosion at the end of the scene.....

This is typical of many Asian films where there is an obvious bais toward the police and they are often displayed as inept. It becomes tiresome to watch how the police are portrayed as complete idiots, but like I said it's pretty typical how Asian film makers portray every day police officers. You just have to roll with it and don't take it too seriously because it can be distracting if you allow it to become overly noticable.

Yeah, 'cause Asians don't act this way at all. lol Whether they are cops or not, they're all this lame. It's difficult to comprehend for a westerner, why Asians often resemble small children in their behaviour.

The Koreans are the only ones who are able to make mainstream Hollywood movies look serious, sophisticated, and artistic by comparison.

The chase scenes in this movie would make Michael Bay blush.

Hong-jin Na must really have something against the police. In both The Chaser and this movie they're portrayed as a bunch of incompetent fools messing around horribly.

I see wolves and wolves in sheep's clothing"

That was the thing that bugged me about The Chaser, it felt like the only reason the story kept progressing was because of how freakin' incompetent the police were...

It's typical of Asian films. Korea especially. The police are usually portrayed as inept buffoons or bureaucratic sycophants. In China, they're usually gangsters with badges, and Japanese police are usually shown as corrupt buffoons kowtowing to yakuza.

HK movies tend to portray cops as total baddasses. At least they did in the 80's.

Maybe back during the days of Chow Yun-fat, Jackie Chan, and John Woo. A lot of the gangsters movies I've seen show them as not being ,inch better than the Triad.
