How many times did you find yourself saying 'I'm lost'?

I watched this the other day with a friend and we continually turned to eachother and asked "What's going on?", "Who's that person?", and "Why?".

reply

Same here, I watched two days ago and the movie was very cool until the part when the guy run away...and then appears other guy...who was the one who told him about the finger guy...and then other guy i don't know... was a mess or maybe it wasn't the day to watch it, i don't know!!!

reply

Hah! Just finished, every 30 minute i was wtf?! Cool movie tough...

"Bring me a dream Burke, bring me a dream!"

reply

I decided to watch this film because I watched the chaser and absolutely loved it, but this one is very convoluted. I was really enjoying until all the gangster *beep* started....

I think one of the reasons why it's so confusing it's because asian people look very alike to non-asian people.

reply

Or all four of you are utterly *beep* retarded.

reply

I agree with you. This is always the same with foreign movies.

Hey, Soldier. Do you know who's in command here?

reply

All Asians look the same, eh?

Look it's Jackie Chan, ooh and look over there it's Jackie Chan again and OMG over there it's Jackie Chan. How does he do that stuff?

Seriously, pay more attention to the movie and you might know what's going on and who is who.

reply

This movie isn't hard to understand at all as long as you pay attention. Sometimes, people acquire habits of just "coasting" through movies, especially those Hollywood, popcorn films with very simple story lines.

Maybe the subtitle was bad?

I understand Korean, so I didn't need to watch this one with Eng sub, but I can see how the movie could have been confusing if you were watching with shytty sub.

Watch it again with no typical distractions (popcorn/snacks, chatting with buddies, etc). Every time I watch movies with my friends, I realize how bad their attention span is.

reply

I have to agree with the OP. It's not an easy film to follow when you don't speak Korean (and I don't). I did enjoy it though but it's nowhere near as gripping as "The Chaser" I thought.

reply

i dont spk korean and i understood it completely. time 2 visit da wizard, scarecrow

I live, I love, I slay, and I'm content

reply

I always watch movies alone and usually don't get lost in the plot...but this time was different. At the moment he tried to return to China but his ship wasn't there...from there on I was totally lost.
Sure if I re-watch it and with better subs I will probably get closer to understanding it.

reply

*Raises hand*

And I'm usually the one who everyone asks after the movie is over. The subs I used were fan made, but they didn't seem too wacky. Frankly, at about the 1:30 mark I just stopped trying to figure it out and just enjoyed the fighting and car chases. And I know that statement just made me sound dumb, but it's the truth.

A big let down after The Chaser, this. An absolute mess, with chase and axe/knife scenes that seemed to have been chucked in for the hell of it--Myun being able to kill a room full of guys whilst half-dead (off-screen). I regert pre-ordering the UK release.

The characters had the thinnest of motivations and there was little to no explaining. The guy that hired Myun did so because he talked to another guy at a bar, or something... and the wife of the guy that the lead was meant to kill was having an affair with some bank fella and tried to get the lead killed... or something.

You'd think the wife of the lead would play a big role in the story, but no: she never appeared and some sushi guy used teleport skills to kill her before her husband arrived., after the husband questioned him.. or something. I don't know, really, since it was all layed out so poorly.

reply

It wasn't that hard to follow but i agree with Air, this movie sucked. I loved The Chaser but this was just too much. The guy keeps escaping and the unstoppable badass villain was ridiculous. Not one, one has a gun. Come on? This isn't the 80's , Dirty Carnival had one, Bittersweet too etc etc. Whatever. Horrible movie, stink ending;

reply

Don't say, that the cop has one, he even manages to wound 2 persons with it ! Koreans don't use guns as easily as americans.

reply

"some sushi guy used teleport skills to kill her "

Why would he have to do that ? You really seem to not have understood anything about the plot indeed. Ever try to look and listen to what happens on the screen while you watch a movie ?

reply

Completely agree. I bloody love The Chaser, so I was very disappointed with this film, especially after the good ratings it got on here.
