What the HELL happened??

I am somewhat confused at what happened. So Bubba is now a contract killer, because he has no where else to turn? Jim knew where Joy was the whole time? Joy left because she somehow got famous? I feel like there are a lot of holes that didn't get filled. Am I missing something here?

Like what did Bubba's Dad have to do with anything? I mean I get that the puzzle thing went throughout the film and the sail boat picture, but why?

Please open my eyes!!

Your not missing anything!

Bubba's dad had nothing to do with it..............just added some confusion!

The writers had an interesting story but just slacked off at the end. I bet you and I could have written a better ending that made sense!

I just watched this on Netflix and came to ask the same question. Whew! I usually can follow a movie (unless it gets super crazy), but I am lost on this one.

SPOILERS...

First, did Jim (Perlman's character) and the girlfriend have a thing planned from the beginning? What was the reference Mr. D made to her being picked up by a cowboy?

Second, why does Jim even bother to get Bubba involved? He had the referral. He was willing(?) to do the job and he was willing to take the money. So, what was the point? Or, was it to make Bubba the "fall guy" when he didn't follow through?

The part about his dad and the puzzle and the dog was just gross. I could have done without seeing any of that nonsensical tangent. Eww.

The movie is a symbolic representation of what you will give up to get material gains.

Mr. D or Jim (depending on your take) was supposed to represent the devil. Bubba and Joy both have to give up love to get what they want. For Bubba it was money and for Joy it was fame.

Jim picked up Joy to offer her fame but of course the trade off was that she couldn't return to Bubba. Bubba got money but he lost Joy. Jim was just doing the devil's work if you believe Mr. D was the devil.

The thing about the puzzle piece and the dog seems to be that he found the puzzle piece but it meant loosing his dog. It's a pretty odd way to show this symbolism but I think it's what they were going for.
