Rolling Stones on Hollywood Palace

It was worth the price of admission to get a look at the clip for the first time in nearly 49 years.

This was the Stones US television debut which actually preceded the release of their first US record (Tell Me) and they clearly had not gotten their act together yet; Mick Jagger was totqally lacking in the charisma he would develop over the next year.

What gets me is how unprofessional Dean Martin acts towards them. Can you imagine any host today acting that way, regardless of how untalented the group was?

The older generation really despised rock and roll. They felt they were talentless, and the fact that they were stealing their popularity made them even more contempuous.Steve Allen,Johnny Carson, and many others routinely acted that way toward rock and roll acts.

Ditto...I'm sure Deano raised his eyebrows on many acts. I thought is was very typical of that time period.

Meanwhile it is 2013 and The Stones are still here...

If you bought the VHS tape "Rolling Stones 25X5" in 1989, you could've seen it twenty four years ago. I still have my copy.
