If I was kidnapped for 6 months and just escaped...

.. the first and only thing I would want to do is just get home and let the police do the rest. Yet these two girls just thought about driving around randomly to find some other girls they didn't even know? lol yeah totally realistic..

still, fun movie..

reply

She knew that the only way to save most of those girls would be to torture the guy into telling her where they are.

If she would have called the cops, here's how it would have gone down:

Cops come and arrest the guy. He won't talk. He gets a lawyer and keeps his mouth shut until all the other girls are dead from starvation/neglect/injuries from abuse, OR the other guys who are in on it have a chance to sell them off or move them to other locations. Not a single other girl gets saved, the other bad guys don't get shot, so they keep this cycle of sex slavery going. Main guy gets 3-5 years in jail, then let out and jumps right back into the mix also.

The justice system can't deal with horrible people like this, because they can't stoop to their level and MAKE them give up info by torture/threats/etc.

The girl was a good person, and smart, because she realized she was the only chance the other girls had.

Or he might have spilled to the cops for a plea bargain as many criminals do.

What a lovely way to burn...

Nobody would have watched that movie.

Revenge is the most important meal of the day.

reply

the premise is so unrealistic.... nobody would act that way. the replies that are made here are all *beep* call the police, let em deal with it. end of story. movie ain't bad though, but the idea was kinda stupid.

reply

If we said that to every horror and thriller movie, we wouldn't have any to watch would we? All these forums are about people putting movies down. What is stupid is people thinking that every single movie is about reality and when it isn't they shut it down in a heart beat, but the reality is this movies are not about reality and that is why movies are released to take us away from reality.

If all the stuff in the movies were real, would there be that many movies in the theater? Most likely not. So I would shut up before you keep saying things that do nothing for ya. Its not what reality is. Come on you got to say something better than that because that is a bad way to put a movie down, when there are millions of movies or even trillions of them that are not reality.

What I don't get is, what the **** point of watching these movies if you are going to pick and pick and pick at everything about it? I guess the answer is, you love to pick at them, and that is why you watch them. Who gets the jollies out of picking at movies? Not me. I just enjoy what I watch. Some people are just worse than stupid. **** idiots.

One person after another saying the stupidest crap about movies on this site, its pathetic. "Oh, thats not real". What movie is real? **** stupid.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

reply

You're right. It was hard to watch this movie. Obviously, the first thing you do is calling the police and your family. The plot needs a reason for she not calling anyone and there isn't any, so yes that was a problem for me too. Without that problem and the vague ending, this movie could have been a great vengeance film.

reply

yeah sure irl you would call the cops, but then how would they do the rest of the movie

Actually I believe you missed the fact that her sister was actually in the same place as her. However. the sister died from starvation because she refused to eat, so her sister would not be a valid reason for her to embark on this revenge trip. In one of her flashbacks you see the antagonist Phil, telling her that she doesn't have to share anymore in reference to her food as she cries over her sister's body. The girl she found at the BF's house was just some other girl who was kidnapped.

I have no qualms about how unrealistic it was, one of my favorite types of movies were the victim becomes the victor and takes revenge against her captors and this film is ideal for that.

reply

Exactly! I struggled to get through the first 15 minutes, he was locked up he gave her the keys she should have drove like hell instead of goin on a nice little road trip with him what on earth could go wrong??Ok so she has a conscience and wants to be a hero why the fack doesn't she torture this *beep* until he gives the locations I mean a couple shots through the knee caps should do the job. I really hate women characters like this who don't run given the chance.

reply

Why because women aren't allowed to be heroes?

reply

Because women should run instead of fight back, right? You don't think that's a little sexist (and completely predictable)?

They're coming to get you, Barbara!

reply

Oh *beep* yea I forgot this is 2015 the year of pussyfication and pc police. Please excuse me because i grew up in a time when men where men and women were women. Anyway doesn't have anythin to do with being a woman if u, me or anyone was in her place the first thing u do is get the fack out of there then get the cops

reply

@psudiemaguire

"Men were men and women were women"---oh, yeah, you mean a time when (white) men's dominance over damn near everything was unquestioned and women just shut up and stayed in their place (which was wherever some man wanted her to be.) That's all you're whining about. Those days are gone forever---get over it. And nowadays men are women and women are men, because of gender reassignment surgery, lol. I know that just freak you the hell out, too. I guess that's too "pussified" )what a stupid word) for you, since your masculinity is so threatened by that.

reply

i would have gone to McDonalds and then the police

Favorite films so far this year:
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - 9/10
Birdman (2014) - 9/10

how come The Punisher didn't get the same critics?

reply

You know how in a horror movie when you see a character go illogically into a situation where they are obviously going to die, you kind of groan or say out loud something like "dumb ass" or "stupid"? You know what that feels like right? Well magnify that about 50 times and that's what you'll think of the plotline from the beginning.

Almost from the moment she escapes it starts and it just gets worse and worse. No one would act like that under any situation, no matter how naive or irrational they might want to make the character in the eyes of the audience.

Everyone in the world would have just left and drove until they found a town and then they'd go directly to the cops. Hell some people in that state of fear might have just took off running and ignored the van entirely.

It was so illogical that the only thing I thought of was "I have to go to imdb to see if someone else thought it really is this bad"

This movie doesn't just insult your intelligence, it pisses all over it, kicks it in the nuts and then sets it on fire.

reply

If you mean the Marvel character then the reason for that is that his backstory is that of a military vet, a martial arts master with training in stealth tactics and guerilla warfare and has been trained in the use of various weapons. He has the knowledge and training to be able to do things like that and have a reasonable chance of succeeding, random people just don't have the training to do it an live.

reply

I am guessing you slept through one of the main plot point of the movie.

She lost her sister who was chained and captive right next to her in the room.

The whole *beep* point of the movie was her effort in "saving" her sister(s).

nobody lives forever...

reply

She and the others would've needed medical attention. Their muscles would have been mush.
