Two Words: My gawd. This 'fan film' was awesome. I hesitate to call it a fan film because it is probably one of the best produced amateur films that I have ever seen. These guys knew what they were doing. If you yearn for a Ghostbusters 3, or just anything Ghostbusters, you HAVE to see this movie. It's free to watch. They have a website.
shareYou are so wrong it isn't even funny. The closest thing to Ghostbusters 3 is the new Ghostbusters video game that is coming out for PS3, PS2, X-Box 360 and Wii. Nearly all of the cast members from the Ghostbusters movies are involved and they have said this is pretty much the sequel we have all been waiting for. In other words, Ghostbusters 3 is a video game. It is not a movie in any way, shape or form.

I heard Ghiostbustes 3 IS going to happen, with Akroyd, Ramis and Murray passing the tourch to Rogan, Carrell and the rest of the Apatow crew

All we know now is that two of the writers from "The Office" are working on a script for "Ghostbusters 3", and apparently, as far as I know all four actors (Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson) are most likely going to return.
From what I've heard, a big part of the plot will involve the Ghostbusters training a new, younger group (possibly to made up of actors from the Apatow gang), presumably because they are getting on in years and realize they can't do it forever.
The company making the game dumped it. Unless someone else picks it up, it is as good as dead.

I'm sure I don't even need to post this, because the actual page for Ghostbusters 3 is where all the traffic went, but yes, there IS a sequel coming out with the real Ghostbusters in it.
This fan film, while fun, was just that ... a fan film. It was cute. I enjoyed a few parts ... even laughed a little.
This went beyond fan film to me, it had the love of a fan made film with the performers and actors filling some pretty big shoes for nothing since they cant make money, but wow its so well shot and made, someone get columbia to give these guys some money and release it officially because its awesomesauce in a bottle.
START THE REVOLUTION! SHRED THE GOVERNMENT! My favorite movie is V for Vendetta.

There are some fan efforts for other franchises that are so horrible. This isn't one of them.
