Romantic, really?

Please, explain to me why you think it's a romantic film. I just don't see how it could be ever considered romantic. I only watched it because I thought it was a thriller and had some mystery. But then it was romantic, and it wasn't even good. What did Jane see in Rochester that she liked about him? I just see him as a prick who treated her slightly better than the others she had met throughout her life.

..but horny! I believed the "Chemistry" you did not?

..you'll get it eventually - I hope?

reply

So, basically she was merely sexually attracted to him?

reply

Actually, I rather like this movie version precisely because I felt that the romance was downplayed. For me, the movie seemed to focus more on Jane's character and her growth from naive and restless to confident and self-assured. Rochester's a prick, but he's her prick. :p

Yes and if you watch the other versions...more than nine, you'll see that same in all of them because that's how Bronte wrote the book (id you should ever take the notion to read it). Jane acts more like a victim of abuse who still craves abuse...even the abuse of a man more than twice her age.

Sorry, you won't get an explanation from me, I think the story is anything but romantic.

reply

The way he looks at her...the things he says. So very sexy.

I doubt I would have her strength to say no to ANYTHING he asked of me.
