Sorry not great

Lovely actors but too short, too much left out and the Bronté lines feel unnatural and thrown in. I love the story but the last version I saw was the 2006 with Toby Stevens, hard to top that one. I even went and did the washing during this version. I liked this Bertha Mason, Valentina Cervi right? Boy was she underused here!
Couldn't they have made it 20 minutes longer?

Don't be sorry. A lot of people didn't like it. Including yours truly.

My personal favorite is the 1983 version with Timothy Dalton.

I hated how they basically eliminated bertha until the wedding. In the novel, there are several hints that something unnatural and creepy is going on in Thornfield, and both the reader and Jane are lead to believe that it has been Grace Poole the whole time. Speaking of which, did she even appear anywhere except in the attic when Bertha's existence is revealed? And worst of all for me because i love gothic stories, they deleted the veil ripping scene! You can find it on youtube and it is very creepy, but they should have included it in the movie!!

I was forced to read the book as a child, and I didn't appreciate it. I have yet to re-read it, BUT I saw the version with Timothy Dalton and thought it was creepy, mysterious, and all around fantastic. You could see why Jane would fall in love with him. Michael Fassbender was not interesting at all. Neither was Mia, as Jane. She was quite awkward, in fact, and both she and Fassbender lacked chemistry. Lastly, the film, I agree, did feel rushed, despite being 2 hours long.

You really owe it to yourself to go back and read the book as an adult.
