Tanya ruined this show

This show had massive potential. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent and sometimes very entertaining show, however, certain factors ruin what could have been an extraordinary show. The number one factor that would've made this show extremely - EXTREMELY - much better, would've been a change of actress for the role of Tanya. She is annoying, embarrassing and quite frankly a very horribly planned character.

Couldn't agree more. I swear I would have to turn off some episodes because she was so annoying and wimpy. I know this isn't the actresses fault but the creator, director, producer needed to give her more of a back bone!!!!

reply

Yep, I hear that. Her character was so annoying that i wanted to strangle her through the tv. She wasn't funny & I wasn't sympathetic to her character at all. Tanya please make like a tree and do one

i totally agree

she was excruciating. her voice, her whining, her nagging, her b!tching

"Thank you."

+1.

Would've been so much better without Tanya. I skipped every scene with her in it after just a few episodes.

reply

i agree, she was so annoying. i think this show would have lasted longer if she had been cut out early on and just replaced with lenore.

Ditto!

T brain could screw up a cup of water more less a cup of coffee!

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

Tanya's character is so annoying and weak that i wished they just have Lenore be Ray's pimp.

reply

You guys miss the point of her character. She was the comic element. The unlikely pairing of the stud jock and the artsy nerd former high school classmates is what brought the humor and contrast to the show. Lenore as the main pimp might have gotten boring after one season. I prefer the back and forth of Tanya vs Lenore.

reply

Hit the nail on the head. She gave the show a good boost of comedy with all her prat falls and frantic personality. She gave the show good contrast.

What ruined the show for me was that they used the same characters in every episode. Lenore was a character I disliked. If they had spread her character out, say every other episode, they could have utiized others better. I would have loved to see more of Ray's neighbors especially the wife. A little more insight into Ronnie and Mindy's affair would have been nice too. I know the show is about Ray and Tanya's business but they really spent a lot of time on characters that lost their shine after awhile. The first season should have been focused on the different women Ray had as clients rather than five or six whole episodes focusing on Jemma who I hated. The show didn't become truly interesting till the end of seaon 2 but by that team everyone had lost interest and it was already sliding away. HBO and Showtime had better shows and AMC was kicking but by then.

I agree with you both (for the most part). I only recently got hold of the first two seasons when I found them in a trash bin, and was intrigued by the premise and loved the two main characters, especially because of their awkwardness and shortcomings.
The problem seems to be that every other character is rather obnoxious ... whether it's the ex-wife, the kids, Jemma, but especially Lenore.

reply

Couldn't agree more. For those who say she was there for "comedy relief", I would retort that it worked for the first season and should of ended there. Unfortunately, the first two episodes of the second season are excruciating thanks to her. I'm not even finished with the second episode because she is killing it for me. I can see why this didn't last.

Tanya was annoying at times with her dialogue. Yes, she gave the show a little comedic aspect sometimes. But, in the end she was just plain stupid too damn much.

Lenore was annoying to

Silence is Golden and duct tape is Silver

Her hair drove me insane! And did she ever wash?

🙉🙊🙈

reply

She was actually the reason I stopped watching the show mid-season 2
