instead of the Edge and Jack White

Okay, another thread about replacing these 2 guys. I think most everybody agrees that Jimmy Page belonged there, but how about some guys from similar eras as the Edge and J. White? Also, their replacements would have to have some mass appeal so as great as jazz or prog rock musicianship is, let's be realistic as far as who they could've casted. Someone with name recognition.

Instead of the Edge, how about:

Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains
Kirk Hammett of Metallica
Prince

Instead of Jack White:

Beck
Derek Trucks

Thoughts?

Interesting thought, but I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm a huge fan of Cantrell but his body of work does not jump out at you and he is not considered a "master" at what he does.

Hammett is also very good at what he does but again does not transend his genre, like White, The Edge or Page.

This movie is about the guitar and needs guitar "Gods"

BUT I would like to see another movie with

Dick Dale (get him while his health holds)
Warren Haynes
Tony Iommi

or

Uli Jon Roth
Billy Zoom
Ted Nugent (underated)

or

Dave Gilmore
Eddie Van Halen
Billy Duffy

or

Adam Jones
Steve Howe
Robbie Krieger

Totally agree with Prince. That would have been fantastic. Jimmy and Prince playing together would have been amazing.

Jack White belongs there. Some of you might not see it right now, but he really really belongs there.

The Douche, not so much. Sure, it would probably be cool with Prince, but his persona doesn't fit.

Eddie Van Halen and Joe Bonamassa.

what about Billy Gibbons ans/or Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler,

Fox Combusts?

I'm not a huge fan of U2 but Bono does have a voice. And why they chose Jack White makes me scratch my head. His voice is annoyingly high. Granted he's a decent guiatarist but vocally I wasn't impressed. Paige is the only legend amongst the three. I agree that two other guys with Paige would've made this docu movie more compelling.

This was a documentary about guitars, not singing.

All three belongs there bc they are more than just guitarists (as one of the chapters was called). They are all amazing high successful song writers. As far as other guys that could have been there I can only think of John Frusciante but I don't think he would do it. Eddie Van Halen is a cock sucker and no one wants to work with him, even for a movie like this.
