how did he know they were going to infiltrate the kremlin, and more to the point, how did he know ethan would be disguised as the general? because he's just standing off to the side when benji and ethan go through the checkpoint with the guard. like he was waiting for them to get there. because he takes off ahead of them as soon as they get through the checkpoint. who told him all the details?
shareHe was waiting for them to get through the checkpoint, because he was setting them up to take the fall. If things started going down before they made it through security, it could be proven IMF had nothing to do with it.
shareI'm just going off memory here, but I'm not sure if they ever say how he knew, but the point was that he was always a couple steps ahead of the IMF. Presumably, them being disavowed and having to go rogue cut off Hendricks' line of information about what they were doing. It's why they were disavowed but allowed to escape and complete the mission.

I don't think his target was blaming the IMF specifically but making it look like it was an attack, presumably from the U.S. Obviously he wanted to cover up the nuclear launch device he stole from the Kremlin, but when he launched the missile from the Russian sub, tensions between the U.S. and Russia had to be high enough where this would look like the Russians getting payback for the Kremlin being destroyed.
Look at the Russian cop who went after Ethan. He didn't know about the cover-up for the nuclear device until Bogdan's business associate told him.

so they bust ethan out of jail, go to the phone and it says he has like 4 hrs to get to the kremlin to get the info on cobalt. they get there, hunt and benji. they're disguised as russian officers. the guy, cobalt is standing just off to the side after they go through the checkpoint ("private igorev.") wouldn't anyone notice him just hanging there? and how did he see through ethan's disguise, since not only was he waiting for them, but also took off as soon as they passed the checkpoint. also, by the time ethan benji get to the records, they're gone? who took them? if it was hendrick's right hand guy, how did he get past the guard? our guys needed that hologram thingee. did he have one of those?
so then the kremlin blows up and ethan escapes the hospital and hooks up with the secretary. how did hendricks know where the secretary was going to be and when and all that in order to fire a rocket launcher or whatever at his limo? then the russian cops, who aren't, presumably, working for hendricks, all show up and start shooting?
yet with all that ethan never suspects a mole. even though there's been a mole in every other movie.
That wasn't Hendricks who checked Ethan's and Benji's credentials. That was just some random security person.
Hendricks didn't even know Hunt and Benji were there. He was trying to erase the evidence of his existence in the archives, like the message said, and he got his hands on the detonating system. He said those things over the Russian communication system to make it sound like an assault team was in the Kremlin and they were ordered to blow it up. He also had nothing to do with the Secretary being killed. The driver and the secretary were shot in the head and the car spun out of control. Those were cops after Ethan who were doing the shooting on the bridge.
Now here's a writing plot hole. How the hell did Hendricks get enough explosives under the Kremlin to blow the place up? There's the plot hole.

not the guy who checks the credentials. after they get past that guy, there's a guy (hendricks) on the right hand side of the screen, who starts walking ahead of hunt and benji as soon as they get past the checkpoint.
sharethis is a plot point that is never explained and that bothered me too while watching the movie. How did he know they would be there at that point and to infiltrate their radio frequency? I get why he did it, it hid his stealing the information about himself from Kremlin, but how did he know when to do it and what radio frequency they would be on?
shareI don't know how he knew they'd be there, but when he was broadcasting, both Ethan and the Kremlin guards could hear him. I doubt they'd all be on the same radio frequency, so he was probably broadcasting on several.
