I Really Wanted To Like This

And maybe I would have if I hadn't already seen the original. But this had none of the subtlety, grace or beauty of the original. The author co-wrote the screenplay on this one, so I don't understand why it is so lacking in charm or anything resembling the original's screenplay, which he wrote.

Even if the original didn't have subtitles, the story would have come through. This version was just a so-so B movie.

The author of the novel, John Lindqvist, didn't co-write the screenplay for Let Me In. He is given credit as he wrote the screenplay that Let Me In was based on, the Let The Right One In film screenplay.

Let Me In does resemble Let The Right One In in structure and a good deal of plot points, but there are additions that make it its own film and changed the principle characters in a way that pleased an American audience more than the original characters.

Not this particular member of the American audience, but to each their own.

I almost didn't bother watching Let Me In because I had already seen LTROI.

Luckily I gave it chance because I liked LMI a lot more. You probably don't like how much different the characters are, but that's why I liked LMI so much more.

It's kinda funny that you actually bothered to read the credits at the end and gave JAL more credit than most LTROI fans do as a result. A lot of LTROI fans try to insist that LMI was trying hard to hide where the source material came from. But as you noticed, it's all right there in the credits. Second thing that pops up even.
