Chloe Grace Moretz brilliant performance

She nailed it in this movie. Great performance.

Agreed. I really like what she brought to the part, her understated performance is proof that "less is more".

Agreed. With this performance in mind, check out the various supporting interviews she did around the time of the film's release. She comes across like a totally giddy pre-adolescent. Nothing wrong with that, but it shows how she buried herself in the role. Good thing, too, since Kodi put in a fine piece of work himself, and it would have looked pretty bad if one (or both!) had been inept.

That's true, she was nothing like Abby in real life so that was a great job of acting.

Also that actually helps support Reeves' version of the character as "stuck at age 12". Chloe Moretz had a ton of world experience at that time...but still acted like a kid. Maturity is a physical process in the brain...not something you gain from experience.

For me, this is her one truly impressive performance.

Seriously?!? She is awesome in all of her roles.

I do love what she did here and in Kick Ass, but she hasn't knocked me out the same way in other roles to be honest. I liked her in Carrie and Hick. And she was pretty good in 500 Days of Summer. I've not seen everything she's done so I may have missed something.

Since you liked her in that roles which I also appreciate very much, you might be also interested in "Hugo Cabret" a kind of homage to old cinema directed by Martin Scorcese with Ben Kingsley.
Also "the clouds of Sils Maria" is an interesting approach to modern Hollywood and its stars somewhat similar to "Birdman" even if not that good.
She had also a short but very good performance in the action movie "the equalizer" in which she demonstrated a great amount of subtlety.

I saw Hugo (Liked it ok)
Saw The Equalizer (Liked it ok)
Haven't seen The Clouds of Sils Maria...I'll put that on my list.

Totally believable and restrained in LMI, yes. Much credit to Director Reeves.

Totally believable in Hugo.

Ever see Hick? One year after LMI. Again, totally believable.

Haven't seen her in anything else, except for her few bit pieces as little kids here and there. Oh, and wasted in Dark Shadows, in the sense that any teen could have played that annoying character.

She certainly works a lot, but most of the time I don't think she picks good roles. Hard to blame her since she has been a teenager during that time. I still haven't seen her latest one.

Do you mean Fifth Wave or the Neighbors comedy? I found Fifth on Youtube and downloaded it. (It's in reverse, strangely enough, but who cares about that)

I liked her work in it. She carried the film, no problem.

The story itself wasn't the greatest sci-fi concept, and I don't like these films that are part 1 of the series, where they'll only make the rest of the series if it makes money. That's one by Saoirse Ronan (The Host) was like that.

The producers have to commit, or get off the pot. Shoot them all at once (like Jackson's Lord of Rings films) and get rewarded.

Neighbors. I saw 5th Wave and rather liked it. It's cheesy of course but I'm a sucker for sci-fi. And I thought she did a good job with what she was given.

Totally agree about that series point. It's actually an incentive NOT to watch those movies because you don't know if you will like it and never see the ending. They are missing that aspect I think.

too bad she is aging so fast - she seems almost twice as old now as she was in this movie
