So so slasher, but could have been better
This flick avoided being a complete dud by the skin of it's teeth. I won't mix words, this flick just passes as watchable thanks to it's gore content. Story wise it falls flat. First off, the characters have got to be the dumbest bunch of sob's I have ever seen in a horror flick. Your running from a sadistic killer, you've escaped his place and are in a car on the way out of town. What should you do? If you said step on it and get out of dodge, your a rational human being. What do the characters do? They drive back to the killers place to hide...really? No seriously..WTF!!
Acting wise it was hit and miss. Bobby Sue Luther tries, but the girl just can't sell it. At least we know how she got the role, she's banging the director (Her husband). Kevin Gage and Sean Whalen hold their own pretty well and are actually likable. Nice to see Whalen getting bigger roles, dude's been acting forever but always seem's to get very tiny roles. Somehow Robert Hill (Director) managed to get Lena Headly for the film, though her role is brief. Maybe he was banging her too, because I can't understand why such a talented actress would agree to be in this flick. My biggest complaint is killing off Jana Kramer so damn fast. Was anyone else pissed about this? The girl is hot, give her more screen time, maybe a topless scene or two. No, She get's wasted in like 5 mins. Bummer! Nick Pincipe does his thing as Chromeskull, you can see dude was having fun. I will admit I laughed when he sighed in frustration because he was going to have to kill again because of Princess.
As for the gore? Not bad, they definatly broke out the sauce for this one. As I said, it's the film's saving grace. There isn't a ton of it, but when the scene's arrive they get your attention. Just be patient (or fast forward), cause there is alot of pointless *beep* in between.
In the end, the flick is worth a look if your bored and looking to watch a gory slasher. As I said, the cast make some serious retarded (Oop's not supposed to use that word!) moves and the story is flat. It's a shame because Hill had the chance to make Chromeskull a new slasher classic. Instead he delivers a subpar movie. This flick is like banging a chick who has a so so face and talks too much. She has a smoking body though, so your tapping it. Nuff said!
