"Serial Killer Costume Maintenance"

"I'd love to kill this girl right now, but she *BEEP* up my mask and it's too uncomfortable to continue killing her. Hold still girl while I glue my mask back on. Dammit anyway!"

I wanted to really like this movie, I mean really. But by 2/3rds of the way through, I had seen enough inconsistency in the characters and witnessed enough stupid decisions to pretty much want it to be over already.

The director didn't do his best to keep the actors focused and keep their emotional state consistent with what they'd experienced. I need more realism in my movies.

Princess Gemstone revealed his achilles heel when she clawed at his face and he was unable to do harm to her till he got his mask comfortably in place again LOL Chromeskull is the stupidest looking psycho I've ever seen. And it was downright comical watching him glue his gay mask back on. Serial killers don't need bling and just look less deranged in a fancy suit!

The one saving grace, and the reason I'm sure so many people seem to like this movie, is for the gore. Sure it was well done, but there wasn't enough substance to the script/direction/acting to support the effects.

I say 5.5/10! And some of that is due to lowering my standards considering the state of the entertainment industry today.

Yea the characters, including the villain, were overly stupid. His mask fell off earlier in the film as well. You would think that if it were so important he would develop a design so that it never falls off.

The protagonists were incredibly stupid as well. I don't mind dumb characters in a horror movie, but these guys would say "We don't need to do that." and then immediately do it. Also the lack of phones was way too convenient. I understand the prevalence of cell phones is an issue in modern horror movies and they usually find clever ways to skirt around it. This movie, which is based in the late 2000's, the people just didn't have phones. Out buddy Waingro didn't seem to understand the concept of a computer or the internet. Too unbelievable.

I also wanted to like this. I thought the villain was adequately scary and the murders and gore were obviously top notch. In the end it just has too many problems. Is the sequel any better?

No, unfortunately the second one is worse. It reveals that Chromeskull is the head of an evil serial killing corporation. They design his chrome plated accoutrements LOL It's sort of the antithesis of Batman and his support staff of Michael Caine(Alfred) and Morgan Freeman(Lucious Fox).

Nice Heat reference by the way, but part 2 doesn't even give us a recognizable face like Waingro. Instead it gives us Mr. Megan Fox(Brian Austin Green).
