Still don't understand why this movie scores so low with so many fans

It's a good movie with a multi-faceted plot, two villains who have reasons to hate Tony Stark, the introduction of Black Widow and a government attempt to get the Iron Man tech.

Does it have issues? Yes. There's a lot in this movie, like many subplots and I've heard the argument yet again (a lame one, in my opinion) about a "weak" villain in Whiplash. That last argument is one I don't take seriously. It's just a nitpick that people who don't like the MCU's success use to damper fan's enthusiasm. It also doesn't work, at least not on me.

Pacing could have been a little more seamless but overall, its' a fun follow-up to Iron Man.

I like this more than pretty much all MCU films that followed.

Don´t know either, never seen it any Iron Man movie.
Only the first is good right?

reply

First one sucked.
He creates the suit, flies around. Millatry tries to shoot unidentified object but fails. A guy in his company wants the tech too and gets it as well. Instead of killing Tony, makes him unconsciousness and comes in the middle of road to destroy stuffs like a stereotypical villain, only to be defeated by Iron Man.

I like Iron man 3. It had a little bit of adventure, mystery and comedy.

reply

The third is by Shane Black isn´t it, that´s a good sign.
But i am not really eager to watch all those mediocre superhero movies.

reply

I like it. Sam Rockwell was funny, Micky Rourke was creepy, we saw more of Nick Fury, the fight scenes were fun and we got to see Black Widow and War Machine for the first time. The drunk scene was a little cheesy, though.

reply

I dont get the hate for this one either, Black Widow's introduction is more than enough to make it a worthy MCU movie.

reply

Reason to hate: Mickey Rourke shirtless. My eyes! My eyes!

It was disliked. The first movie was surprisingly good and it started interest in the MCU. Iron Man was a joke of a character. No one expected him to become so likeable. It's the only marvel movie I like. Iron Man is entertaining, it was new, and Robert Downey Jr. Nailed the role. It was a big success.

After the hype of the first, the second couldn't really hold up. The bad guys were not that great and the battle against the robots wasn't as interesting as seeing the development of the suit.

As said before, I only watch Iron Man intentionally in the MCU. The rest of the movies aren't my thing.

I think this movie gets a lot better once you've seen The Wrestler.

I didn't even see it in the theater but then I saw The Wrestler and now I always watch it when it's on TV.

reply

I agree, this movie is passable but no more, IM 1 and 3 are much more fun.

This one was a bit of a let-down for me, not every exciting, fun, or involving.

reply

Who are you agreeing with? Not the OP.

I think this is one of the better MCU films. Better than IM3. IM1 only edges it out because of the origin story. The villains here are way better than the Jeff Bridges character. And there are so many fun elements. Vastly underrated.

reply

It's nice that somebody likes IM2 as much as you do!

I prefer 3 myself, as I found it more fun and with more surprises, but I dont insist yhat you agree.

reply

I like that one too, although I thought he was out of the suit for too long a stretch in the middle of the movie.

reply

Well, one of the things I liked about IM3 was the sequence where he's stuck among ordinary people without his suit... and he can't stop being a smartass bitch. Even to a child.

reply

I would have preferred that be shorter but definitely still included. Again, though, I did like that movie.
